The Spirit and Story of CrustWorthy

A Slice of Our Journey So Far

Back in 2020, gourmet breads were still completely unknown, an uncharted territory for us. And we had no plans of diving into this world either. Our founder Jay, a mechanical engineering graduate, had a knack for biomedical technology and was interning with a medical device company in Pune.

Jay had been accepted by his dream university – Georgia Institute of Technology. He was supposed to board a flight to the US to pursue a master’s degree in Biomedical Innovation and Development. But just before he could go, the pandemic happened and lockdown restrictions were imposed across the world.

Unsure of when he would get to fly to the United States, Jay decided to make the most of the lockdown – by exploring the art of bread-making. But diving into bread-making without any experience meant mistakes were bound to happen. So, after 14 failed attempts, managing to bake a perfectly crusty Sourdough bread was indeed a ‘sweet’ victory.

Soon, Jay grasped the art of baking several other gourmet breads and the satisfaction it evoked was second to none. He decided to take this new-found love to the next level and combine it with his passion for food and entrepreneurship. That’s how Jay crafted the recipe for ‘CrustWorthy Gourmet Breads’.
